Big business has successfully stepped in and made us all believe preserved, dyed, chemical treated food is better.  To that I say, Yeah, right! Well, to this i would say.. the demand drove the market.. you CAN cook for your pets.. but to do it right and have it nutritionally balanced is not easy .. today's pace make's folks want a pill for this or that.. the burger market is crazy.. so i would put forth demand and time as the reason you see such few cooking for thier doggies.. heck few cook for themselves. After hearing every type of statistic and all the reps you can imagine push their product .. our hospital was most impressed with and recommends IAMS.. it is now available in grocery stores.. other options are Hill's, Pedigree (Waltham) or Purina.
