Chulu East is a delight for trekking and climbing. Technically, Chulu East is a friendly peak and does not require much trekking or climbing experience. However, physical fitness and complete acclimatization is must for everyone attempting to summit Chulu East. The route that weaves to this peak is not strenuous and is not that difficult. Besides a strong backup of supportive team of a leader, porter, sherpas and cooks, trekkers and mountaineers should also be equipped and familiarized with equipments like crampons, harness, ice axe, tying knots and handling climbing ropes. The best season to trek and climb Chulu East is from March to May and from September to November. |

Kathmandu has been "off limits" to most foreigners for many years since then, and it was only in 1951 that tourists were permitted to visit Nepal. Set in the small Kathmandu Valley and surrounded by high mountains, Kathmandu is a medieval metropolis with superb artistic and architectural traditions that have miraculously survived the centuries. In the early 1850s, the English traveler, Francis Egerton, visited Nepal and described the city of Kathmandu as he saw it then: "A picturesque and quaint looking temple and a cluster of wide-eaved houses, profusely adorned with carved woodwork, form a pretty foreground. In the plain below is a broad river, on the opposite bank of which stands the town, with its numberless Chinese-looking temples, the brass work with which they are ornamented glittering in the sun." |

To the south of Nepal is the Terai- a flat tropical lowland.From the Terai, the Land rises highly to the Mahabharat mountain range with peaks of up to 3,050 m.This is followed by central Hills, an undulating mountain region which leads to the snow covered Great Himalaya Range whose awesome peaks form the northern boundary of Nepal in the east.Though only 193km across Nepal has a wide variety of geographical regions, ranging from tropical southern flat lands to the arctic Tibetan Plateau. Nepal's Himalaya is the largest and highest standing 800 km across with eight peaks that soar above 8000 meters including Mt. Everest(8848m), the highest peak in the world. |
